The coronavirus pandemic continues to shift Americans' work priorities. Nearly three-quarters, 73%, of employed Americans are thinking about quitting their jobs, according to a Q3 Joblist survey of 26,278 job seekers, and millions already have. A quarter of those surveyed said they would consider freelance or part-time work to make the leap.
If you're among the millions of people considering picking up some freelance work, it can pay to assess your online options. Sites like Upwork and Thumbtack provide ways for experts in an array of fields to monetize their knowledge or experience. Another site to consider is Fiverr. The site has "evolved in such a positive way for freelancers" since its inception, says Kathy Kristof, founder and editor of Sidehusl.com. "I recommend [it] to people all of the time."
Fiverr freelancers offer "primarily online services," she says, like website building, any type of writing, or resume reviews. Buyers log onto the site and use relevant search terms to find the professional offering the services they need.
Here are five terms that have seen significant increase in searches from March 2021 to August 2021 as compared to September 2020 to February 2021, including their coinciding services and how much experts can charge for them.
Amazon's PPC (pay-per-click) ads are an opportunity for sellers to get their products in front of more customers. Ads show up in places like a banner at the top of the page or as the first product a customer sees listed in search results.
"Businesses who created their online presence last year are now trying to scale," says Natasha Shine-Zirkel, business verticals group manager at Fiverr. When a business owner's searching for an expert in Amazon PPC on Fiverr, "that's all about marketing," she says. The term saw a 171% increase in searches in the last six months compared to the previous six months.
Experts in Amazon PPC advertising on Fiverr offer services like homing in on the most effective keywords, setting up a user's account, and writing the content for the ads. They make anywhere from $15 to $10,000 per project.
Like Amazon PPC, Google Ads (formerly Google AdWords) is Google's pay-per-click advertising program enabling businesses and individuals to place ads in people's searches. Depending on the type of campaign, ads can show up at the top of a page, for example, to ensure the right audience sees them.
"Any marketing expert that has paid acquisition experience" like that of Google Ads, says Shine-Zirkel, "this is a great opportunity for them." The term has seen a 93% increase in searches.

Users can also create online courses in subject matters ranging from business to baking as a way to bring in some passive income. And many of them need help managing both the logistics of creating their courses and the marketing that goes along with it.
As people pivot and find new directions for their careers, they're trying to "reinvent themselves and create their online presence," says Shine-Zirkel. "We see this in terms of online course creation." Online course content saw a 166% increase in searches.
A sales funnel is the series of steps web users go through to become a business's customers. This could include seeing tweets about its products or receiving emails about its sales ― whatever ultimately leads them to make that final purchase.
Like Amazon PPC and Google Ads, the sales funnel is "all about marketing," says Shine-Zirkel. The term saw a 235% increase in searches over the last six months compared to the previous six months.
If you have experience in writing content for landing pages, sales pages, newsletters, and so on, this might be a gig to consider. Fiverr experts who offer services in this world can charge between $10 and $2,195 per project.

Facebook pages remain staples among businesses wanting to connect with a customer base and a wider audience. "People that are experts in Facebook or Instagram or even now TikTok" are becoming increasingly popular on the site, says Shine-Zirkel. The term has seen a 90% increase in searches.
While services within the Amazon PPC and Google Ads sectors might require a certain marketing background, remember that "for every keyword that we see, there's a wide range of services that can be provided to fulfill that need," says Shine-Zirkel. Search what experts on the site are offering under each search term to see if any of your skill sets are relevant, and consider offering similar services yourself.
