Travel nurse couple: Van life helps us save up to $20,000 a month
A couple years after getting into a relationship, Meg and Ty DeWitt began taking on short-term contracts as travel nurses. They earn substantially more than they did as staff nurses and are able to explore the country at the same time. In 2019, the DeWitts bought a van and turned it into a mobile home. So far, they've earned up to about $23,000 a month and saved up to $20,000 a month by living in their van. That's allowed them to pay off debt and build toward their financial goals.
